electroculture - Reverbatory
If one examines electronic culture, one is faced with a plurality of, on the one hand, a neoculturality that constructs it’s own context, and on the other hand a new architecture built of sound. The premise of the paradigm of electronicality is that electrocultural reality comes from an electronic exchange. Therefore, DJ’s, musicians and electroculturemakers use the concept of culture to denote a liquid sense of space untethered to place.
Electroculturemakers such as DJ Spooky, Kid Koala, and DJ Shadow use sampling and mixing to modify society. Their weavings and structures are at once hypernarrative and hyperarchitectural, both vessel and liquid, both gasoline and match. They are mythopoetical and self-actualizing.
The following is an exhibition of photographs and artist statements about this plurality of electroculture. The facets reflected herein are by no means exhaustive or even representative, but rather a semi-random snapshot of the neocultural flow.
