Artists Self Portraits in the smartphone era

Artists Self Portraits in the smartphone era

http://www.artistswithiphones.com/

Ongoing Call for participation.

Since the fifteenth century and the advent of the mirror artists have modeled for themselves in their own works of art. Whatever the reason, nearly every artist, in every medium from painters to sculptors have attempted this exploration of self.

How does the artistic self portrait look today in the smartphone era?

You are hearby invited to make a creative self portrait using a mirror and a camera phone.

The only criteria is that you are an artist. The medium you work in doesn’t matter

It has to be a self portrait taken by you in front of a mirroring surface and the cameraphone has to be visible. Other than that it’s open to your creativity. It doesn’t have to be an iPhone. Any brand can be used as long as it’s a phone.
No ordinary cameras allowed.

The domain is a take on the various similar sites like guyswithiphones girlswithiphones, babeswithiphones, uncutgirlswithiphones, hairycatswithiphones and so on.

Take your self portrait and email it to: pic@artistswithiphones.com

Include your name and a link to your artist website.
Thats all.

There will be no selection. Every picture that meets the requirement will be posted.
Contact me if you have any questions.

pic@artistswithiphones.com

This is a project from Anders Weberg and produced by the Stian gallery of con-temporary art.

This pictures will not be sold or distributed in any way. This is Your picture and always will.

Would there in the future be anyone interested in doing  a exhibition of this collection every artist will for sure be asked before anything happens and you are free to then decide if you would like to participate in that or not.

I’m doing this out of pure curiosity and I’m really looking forward to see a lot of creative self portraits.

Please beware.
You will regret that cell-phone self-portrait in the bathroom mirror one day.

http://www.simultan.org/en/2012/video.html

SIMULTAN 2012 - 'The beginning of the end'
11-13 oct. 2012  Timisoara, Romania
http://www.simultan.org/festival
FB. event
https://www.facebook.com/events/433322830038336/

SIMULTAN is an annual festival dedicated to media art and artistic experiment, creating a bond between different media.
Initiated by a group of artists, the festival was born as an artistic project having the goal to create a cultural context of the 'here and now' on the local scene, encouraging new and innovative forms of artistic expression, as visual and sound language.
Annually, in the 3 days of events, take place video art screenings, audio-visual live performances, experimental music concerts, installations and lectures.
The festival features local artists and projects, as well as national and international artists and projects, with the support of the different cultural centers which activate in Romania. Thus, the event intends to establish new cultural and artistic bonds between the Romanian and the international art scene.

Interlace

Interlace

We want Northwest based creatives to contribute to our latest project.
We would like you to submit film clips of up to 15 seconds in length on the theme of 'Interlace'. These clips will then be processed into the 'Interlace Zine'. You may submit as many of these clips as you like, they can also be a series of clips.
The zine will be in the form of a live event in which we will use various methods of video projection to relay, manipulate, overlap and ultimately project the live zine. We will initiate spontaneous and serendipitous collaborations, altering the context of the work through the editing process and the use of the atmospheric projection space while also challenging the preconceptions of 'what is a zine?'
As an alternative to submitting a video piece we will also accept single image submissions that will be processed into a piece for the video zine. These should be submitted as jpegs of a decent size (no 50kb files please!).
In addition to this there will be interactive elements at the event that will allow for live contributions to the zine. The event will take place at Vault during the first week of October.
We would like all videos to be uploaded to this Vimeo channel.

electroculture - Reverbatory

electroculture - Reverbatory

If one examines electronic culture, one is faced with a plurality of, on the one hand, a neoculturality that constructs it’s own context, and on the other hand a new architecture built of sound. The premise of the paradigm of electronicality is that electrocultural reality comes from an electronic exchange. Therefore, DJ’s, musicians and electroculturemakers use the concept of culture to denote a liquid sense of space untethered to place.

Electroculturemakers such as DJ Spooky, Kid Koala, and DJ Shadow use sampling and mixing to modify society. Their weavings and structures are at once hypernarrative and hyperarchitectural, both vessel and liquid, both gasoline and match. They are mythopoetical and self-actualizing.

The following is an exhibition of photographs and artist statements about this plurality of electroculture. The facets reflected herein are by no means exhaustive or even representative, but rather a semi-random snapshot of the neocultural flow.

                                                                                                                                  ~ Alexi Sonique
